Chad Capellman

Chad Capellman

Daniel and Chad worked together at digital advertising agency Genuine Interactive, where their mutual love of the Oxford comma and ambivalence for the Web made them buddies for life. Chad took Daniel to his first and only Red Sox game, and has remained his faithful friend and wacky mentor. After their marriage, Chad and his wife Jessica officially adopted Daniel as their son. Chad loves good journalism, incisive Tweets, and the Terps.

Jan Marie Andersen

Jan Marie Andersen

Jan Marie and Jourdan met after the winds of fate placed them in the same overgrown house on top of a hill near Boston College. They became friends by complaining about their roommates, who spent most of their time watching Disney movies and not doing dishes. Jan Marie is a casual astrophysicist who spends time coding medical stuff for someone in Connecticut and hanging out with her husband, Curtis, and their cat, David S. Pumpkins. Jan Marie loves Star Wars, bicycling, and a good cheese.

Jacqueline Andros

Jacqueline Andros

Jacqueline is a native of the Washington, D.C. area and has also lived in Japan, so it makes sense that she loves cherry blossoms. She and Jourdan first met while studying French in college and they recently visited Paris together to celebrate themselves, their birthdays, and their friendship. Jacqueline enjoys running marathons, the beach, and going to Nationals games with her fiancé, Bret.

Jennifer Assily

Jennifer Assily

Jennifer was born in Walnut Creek, California, and her heart remains loyal to the ocean. She is a voracious reader, writer, and thinker. Jen lives in D.C. and works in microfinance, but the person writing this bio wants her to get a job further north. She loves bees, Twitter, and deep conversations about intense topics.

Mary Downs

Mary Downs

Mary Downs epitomizes the old chestnut that says good things come in small packages. She is a world traveler and polyglot who is currently employed at the Harvard Kennedy School, where she helps smart people decide to give their money to Harvard instead of some other fancy school. Mary makes beautiful pottery in the spare time of hers that isn’t taken up by rock climbing.

Caitlin Hafen Ankney

Caitlin Hafen Ankney

Jourdan and Caitlin met when their parents brought Caitlin home from the hospital in 1987. Jourdan was not happy about this, but eventually got over it. Caitlin is a smarty pants and does something with computers that her less technologically proficient sister does not understand. She loves her husband, Josh; both Disney and Harry Potter Worlds; the theater; and Parks & Recreation.

Jowanza Joseph

Jowanza Joseph

Jourdan met Jowanza at a party, where a story about pizza almost ended this beautiful friendship before it began. Thankfully, they persevered, and have supported each other through years of weirdly similar relationship patterns before both settling down with their final people. Jowanza knows basically everything about cool sneakers, jazz music, and electronics, and he and his wife Bethany are the parents of the best toddler ever, Norah.

Mallorie Mecham

Mallorie Mecham

Sometimes people come into our lives for no reason but to introduce us to better, more worthwhile people. This was how the storied friendship of Jourdan and Mallorie began. While the despicable toad who was the reason that they met has long since exited their lives, this bond between a poetic and noble land mermaid and a rainbow-infused space unicorn has lasted. Mallorie describes herself as “fun-sized,” and it’s that sense of humor that got her through three grueling years of law school with numerous awards and accolades. Mallorie likes babies, Diet Coke, and Parks & Recreation.

Courtney Toaivaio

Courtney Toaivaio

Jourdan met Courtney at a Christmas party in 2012. She was initially too intimidated to talk to Courtney, because she is very tall and beautiful, but with time, they became dear friends. Courtney unfortunately now lives in Brooklyn with her very cool boyfriend, Matt, but thankfully she still visits Massachusetts fairly often. Courtney loves family, cocktails, and finely crafted poems (she also writes finely crafted poems).

David Alderson

David Alderson

Legendary Allstonian David Alderson co-hosted the Boston Meetup group “Beer, Burgers, and Karaoke” (BBK) with Jackie Gonzalez. David has an encyclopedic knowledge of Dad jokes and can hold his liquor like no other human being on Earth. When he first met Daniel, David inducted him into his girlfriend’s literary parlor, The Write Club, which has been meeting for a decade at Trident Bookstore & Cafe on Newbury Street. David enjoys good food, cycling, and literature that packs a punch.

Max Almanzor

Max Almanzor

Jackie Gonzalez added Max to BBK during a Social Boston Sports bowling tournament. Always the enigma, Max is the former social club’s youngest member and also its most eligible bachelor. He likes programming almost as much as he likes squash, and spends his vacations enshrouded in secrecy among family on Rhode Island. Max is a fan of the New England Patriots, classic rock, and hard liquor.

Maryam Borton

Maryam Borton

Another one of Jackie Gonzalez’ BBK orphans, Daniel met Maryam at Plough and Stars and has been an accomplice to BBK shenanigans for years. Born in Texas, she grew up in Beirut, Lebanon and studied Environmental Sciences in Michigan. At Harvard, Maryam’s job is to prevent students from setting themselves on fire. She enjoys traveling, craft beer, and relay races.

David DeWitt

David DeWitt

Best Man

Daniel’s “brother from another mother” David DeWitt met him in the fifth grade after spending the summer together in search of a magic bible in Zelda II: The Adventures of Link. When they were about to give up on their quest, Jennifer Hunker volunteered the location of the item on the bus ride to the hellscape that was middle school. The three decided to team up for what would become a friendship that has lasted more than twenty years. David DeWitt was born in Jacksonville, FL and he loves movies, memes, and good stories.

Jackie Gonzalez

Jackie Gonzalez

The social group BBK was the brainchild of legendary Bostonian Jackie Gonzalez and brought together the majority of Daniel’s friends in the city. She introduced him to karaoke at Hong Kong (in Harvard Square), the joys of frozen margs (everywhere), and Tinder. Jackie is a San Diego, California native, and a primo hostess. She enjoys good company, creativity, and emo band nights at Brighton Music Hall.

Matt Legrand

Matt Legrand

Daniel met Matt while they were both minions of Genuine Interactive, making websites for the man. Originally a Tennessee native, Legrand survived on Cheez-Its during his time in the Air Force. Matt is a fan of dance clubs, rock climbing, and industrial design.

Avinash Uttamchandani

Avinash Uttamchandani

As an electrical engineer, Avi spends the majority of his time designing microcontroller firmware for the insides of killer robots. Daniel first met Avi through Maryam Borton at a Boston beer convention, and they have remained intoxicated ever since. When he isn’t isn’t putting down sentient machine rebellions, Avi enjoys local concerts, soldering, and a good session IPA.
